When you’re feeling stuck, you’re living in fear.

Most likely, your mind is on what you don’t want...what you’re afraid of.

When it comes to body image, feeling stuck and dissatisfied with the way you look is always a result of fear. Fear that you will gain weight, fear that you will be rejected, fear that you will be judged, fear that you will be unlovable, fear that you will become bedridden, fear that you won’t be able to fit into your wedding dress anymore, fear that you won’t be attractive to your partner.

Whatever the specific fears are for you, they are most likely dominating your thoughts and keeping you stuck with the terrible feelings you have right now.

They key to freeing yourself from this cycle is always to change your thinking. You’re thinking about being fat, you’re thinking about being judged, you’re thinking about what other people think about you, you’re thinking about the things you don’t want.

Your thoughts attract like thoughts. Happy people attract happy people, generous people attract generosity, and fearful people attract more fear and uncertainty.

You will start to experience real relief and a sense of movement in your life when you can have the majority of your thoughts be on what you want, rather than what you fear.

The first step is to figure out what you want. What is it, anyway? Maybe you’ve been so focused on weight loss for so long, that you think it is really what you want. But move to the next phase of that thought...What will weight loss do for you? What is appealing about being thin? What feelings are you trying to get from losing weight?

Maybe you think you want to be wealthy. Why? How will it feel to be wealthy? Write a list of the feelings wealth will bring you.

Therein lies the gold.

You’ve decided that there are specific paths to your happiness (being wealthy, losing weight, etc.) and that has been your sole focus. You’ve limited the ways happiness can come to you by trying to control the process.

Once you’ve identified the ideal end result -- happiness in one form or another -- open yourself to the possibility that happiness can come to you in many various ways. By releasing the idea that you know the best way to get happy, you invite infinite and creative ways for your happiness to come to you.

Picture yourself as the end result: a joyous, satisfied person. Maybe you strive to be confident, secure, or powerful. Picture yourself that way -- without getting caught up in the details of how you will get there.

The magic happens when we release the need to control our circumstances, and invite the creative, loving energy of the Universe to bring happiness into our lives in any way, shape, or form.
